WHAT IS XPORT?
Answer :

xPort is the most efficient backup tool for your iPod, it enables you to export songs from your iPod to your computer without loosing any rating, because it is able to recognize your playlists. Accomplishing that exportation is summarised in a few clicks. This program can also create an internal list that contains the songs you want to export; it includes a lyrics search, has the capacity to make a text listing of your database and gives you the possibility to create m3u playlists. This software is compatible with all iPods and supports all the file formats (MP3/AAC).
WHICH IPOD DOES XPORT SUPPORT?
Answer :

It support all models. But if you have the iPod Shuffle, you need to update it.
WHY DOES THE PROGRAM NOT START?
Answer :

Make sure that you have Java on your computer and that your iPod is plugged on. At the first run, the program has to find your Java Virtual Machine. Please wait.

I RECEIVED THE LICENSE CODE BY EMAIL. WHAT HAVE I TO DO WITH IT?

Copy the key that you get in the mail, start the program, click on "Register" and paste the key code on the box without any space.
WHY DOES THE KEY NOT WORK?
Answer :

You have to copy the key WITHOUT any space and paste it in the right box. This key only runs on the last version of xPort and on the iPod that you used to buy the key code with. If the problem persists, please contact me.
WILL I BE ABLE TO BACKUP ANOTHER IPOD THAT I USED FOR THE PURCHASE?
Answer :

No, sharing music or storing songs that were not purchased by you is illegal. xPort will only run on the iPod that you used to buy the key code with. DON'T STEAL MUSIC!!!
I PURCHASED XPORT AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY LICENSE EMAIL.
Answer :

The key is automatically sent after you bought xPort. Maybe your provider blocked the license mail and you will never get it.
So click here, type on your mail address and click on the button.
If it doesn't run, that means that the transaction is not finished. It takes sometimes a few hours.
WHAT DOES THE BUTTON EXPORT?
Answer :

Before pressing the button export, make sure that you selected the playlist that contains the songs that you want. Then click on "export", it will open a new window and you will be able to copy very easily the songs.
HOW CAN I CHOOSE THE SONGS THAT I WANT TO COPY?
Answer :

Select the songs that you want to copy and click on "add to xPort". Then select the playlist xPort and you will find the songs that you added. Then click on export.
HOW CAN I PLAY ALL THE SONGS WITHOUT THE IPOD PLUGGED IN?
Answer :

You need to copy them on a different drive that the iPod.
HOW CAN I EXPORT MY SONGS INTO THE ITUNES LIBRARY?
Answer :

Wait until the copy is finish and open iTunes. If your songs have been exported with the ratings.
- Click on the menu File ==> import and select xport.xml.

Else
- Click on File ==> Add a folder to the library and select the folder where you copied songs.
HOW DO EXORT THE SONGS WITH THE RATINGS?
Answer :

Before exporting your songs check "export with ratings", copiez your songs, after this open iTunes, and click on File ==> Import and select xport.xml.
WHAT IS THE PLAYLIST XPORT?
Answer :

xPort is an internal playlist. You can add and remove songs from this playlist to export them.

WHAT IS A M3U PLAYLIST?
Answer :

M3U is a media queue format, also generally known as a "playlist". It is the default playlist save format of WinAMP but all media programs recognize this format.
WHAT IS XPORT.XML?
Answer :

xport.xml is a file that xPort creates if you copy songs with ratings, it contains the ratings of your songs, you can import it into iTunes with the menu File ==> import.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AAC & MP3?
Answer :

Numeric music is stored in different formats. MP3 and AAC or WAV are examples of such digital music storage formats.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN XPORT AND XPODCLONE?
Answer :

The difference between xPort and xPodClone is easy : xPort is a
shareware, xPodClone a freeware.

- With xPodClone you can't choose what
you want to backup, it copies all the iPod and preserve the iPod
structure (the songs are named with 4 characters , fore example : DJIE.mp3). After the copy on your PC, you'll not be able to recognize which file is which song.

- With xPort, you can choose which songs do you want to backup and renames songs while exporting, it do an incremental copy, you can choose the folder where do you want to copy songs (artist/album/song), (genre,/artist/album/song) ...
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEN "UNLOCK KEY" AND "IPOD SERIAL NUMBER"?
Answer :

The unlock key (registration key, key, keycode, serial, activation key) is a word composed by letters and numbers that activate xPort.

With this key, xPort become a full version.

iPod serial number is the serial that apple wrote on the back of your iPod. Each iPod has a different number.
HOW CAN I UNINSTALL XPORT FROM MY COMPUTER?
Answer :

xPort is not a software to install, this is juste one file (xport.exe for PC version, and xport.jar for the cross-platform version). You only have to delete this file. For windows users, if you can't delete it, that's meen that xPort has not been leaved correctly, so you have to kill the process javaw.exe that is running (Press Ctrl + alt + delete) to show the taskmanager.
CAN I INSTALL XPORT ON MY IPOD?
Answer :

Yes, of course, this is a really good idea, just put the programm xPort on your iPod, it will run correctly, and you will be able to switch from two computers.
I EXPORTED ALL OF MY IPOD, AND I SEE IN "LOG.HTM" THAT SOME SONGS WERE NOT EXPORTED.

The default location that xPort choose to copy the songs is your iPod (form iPod to iPod) if you don't change it, it copy the music on itself in a folder named "music". If you want to backup your whole iPod, you need to change the location, because, you will not have enough place to copy the music. When looking at the file "log.htm", you will see the songs in bold that were not correctly exported, this is the most of time because xPort has not enough place to copy them.
WHY DO XPORT OR IPOD2COPY "FREEZE" WHILE COPYING?
Answer :

xPort & iPod2Copy freeze when your iPod can't be read, it happens when your iPod is disconnected or if the battery is uncharged.
WHAT ARE THE DETAILS OF YOUR MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE?

You have to do several steps for this problem:

1. You buy xPort or iPod2Copy
2. Plug your iPod on your MAC and open the software.
3. Backup all your iPod to your MAC
4. Import your music into iTunes.
5. Pluf your iPod on your PC
6. Reformat it in PC file format (it is recognized on MAC as well as on PC)
7. replug your iPod new formatted on your MAC.
8. Put your music from iTunes to iPod.

Your iPod is now fully compatible with MAC and PC software.
HOW TO COPY FROM IPOD TO COMPUTER?
Answer :

For xPort:
1. Plug your iPod,
2. Open xPort,
3. Select your songs
4. Click on "Export",
5. Choose a location folder
(you can create a new directory on your desktop and select it),
6. Click on "Export",
7. Wait,

For iPod2Copy:
1. Open iPod2Copy,
2. Click on the green button,
3. Create a new folder on your desktop (for example)
4. Drop it into the right panel of iPod2Copy.
5. Click on "Copy"
6. Wait,

Your songs are on your computer.

HOW TO IMPORT MY SONGS FROM COMPUTER TO ITUNES?
Answer :

**Your songs are already on your computer like descriped in the previous step***

You have two choices:
Without ratings, playlists, trackcount:
1. Open iTunes,
2. Click on file ==> "Add the folder to library",
3. Browse your folder and add it into iTunes.

With ratings, trackcount, last date...
1. Open iTunes,
2. Click on file ==> "Import...",
3. Browse to your music folder and add "playlist.xml" if you used iPod2Copy and "xport.xml" if you used xPort.
MY IPOD IS NOT RECOGNIZED, I HAVE TO ENABLED DISK USE IN ITUNES.
Answer :

When you lunch iTunes, click on the left side on your iPod, then choose in right panel the option "enabled disk use" then you will see your iPod as an external drive and you will be able to backup it with xPort or iPod2Copy.

xPort has an internal exportlist named xport that containts your export selection.

Copy your songs without loosing ratings. When the copy is finished, import the file xport.xml into iTunes!

xPort shows the picture of the album of the selected song, you can add them from iTunes.

Use the m3u playlist to hear your favourites songs at work for example, when iTunes is not installed. m3u playlist are supported by all softwares for mp3.
